Why Bulgarian Buddies was formed

Bulgarian Buddies was formed with one major aim: to bring British and Bulgarian people together to their mutual benefit. We seek to create a safe environment necessary for fair trade.

We have lived in Bulgaria for four years. During this time we have realised that it is often hard for small investors or individual families to gain good quality information.

Buying a house in Bulgaria is easy, there are hundreds of estate agencies who will help you do this but learning to live in a different country and culture is far more challenging.

As a former Communist country, still making the transition to a Western lifestyle, Bulgaria faces many problems and issues. There are differences in cultures and expectations which can be frustrating to Bulgarians and Brits alike.

At times, there is corruption, and like anywhere, there are some individuals, of all nationalities who seek to exploit rapid change for their short term advantage, without considering or caring about the wider effects of their actions.

We believe that here, as elsewhere, the vast majority of people would prefer to relate to each other in a fair, honest way, once they believe that it is possible to do this and survive. We believe that this preference is not just a moral choice but a practical one because, in the long term, this is what works best. We do not seek to be a force against corruption, but instead hope to create a pro-fairness environment.

We act to encourage open communication, and provide accurate information to our clients. It is in the nature of our work that on occasion we will make suggestions to our clients about services they should use but

We never ask for or accept any commission or payment from services or people we suggest.
